Problem with columns

Hi,
when i use the column function first everything looks fine like:
[column width="eight" position="first" ]Sample Content[/column] [column width="eight" position="last" ]Sample Content[/column]
But when I switch to the layout with side bar the columns are shown among one another. What do I have to change?
