Front Page with Sidebar

I have a post as a front page rather than the blog. I want the front page to have a sidebar but when I select Page + Sidebar as the template for the main page it doesn’t look right. Normally headers have the line underline. And the sidebar is almost on the navigation bar.

Is there another way I can get a sidebar on the front page or fix how it looks?
