Porfolio Grid Customization

I’m trying to add a boxed style portfolio grid to a Page. I have added a row and added a Portfolio Grid element. But I don’t see how to add images to the grid. When I click the Edit button for the portfolio grid there are no tab to upload images. I also want to create categories for the images in the portfolio for viewers to filter by. I’m a photographer so the portfolio are various types of photos.
