Changing portfilio item slug

Hi, I followed these instructions in order to change the portfoilio item slug http://blueowlcreative.com/support_wp/forums/topic/how-to-change-portfolios-slug-from-portfolio_item-to-something-else/

The issue now with the new plugin activated is that when I am creating a new portfolio item, the visual composer is not loading – the page in the admin dashboard looks like a blog post item with WYSIWYG – you can’t add rows etc.

Another thing is that when I switched back to the original portfolio plugin, a published portfolio item is showing 404 error when clicked form the grid.

In addition newly created portfolio items with the new plugin activated are not showing in the portfolio grid.

I also flushed rewrite rules as you recommended to someone. Inserted this into child’s theme function.php, deactivated/activated the plugin, refreshed some pages but it didn’t help – I get 404 error when opening portfolio item pages. However, I’m not sure if I’ve done it right. Anyway, nothing chaged for the worse or for the better. I guess I need to plug in some other values here. Can you tell which if that’s the case?

Hi there,

First off, what are you after?
1. Do you want to keep the portfolio CPT and have a separate CPT “catalog”?
2. Have you created your new templates (point 3 & 4)?

I have did everything in the instruction. So, I created templates (copied files and renamed them accordingly). I want to keep portfolio CPT and have catalog CPT.

Did you create a brand new plugin for the new custom post type then if you want to keep the portfolio?

Yes. It’s fortuna_catalog_cpt.php. I changed every instance of portfolio and copied it into the plugin directory. I send the link to this file and and template files that needed modification in the previous private message. You can check them and see for yourself if I’ve done everything correctly. But if it helps, I can grant you the ftp access to childs theme directory, so you could see that all necessary templates are in place. As I said, I had followed the instructions.
