I currently have a site in development and need either the services or portfolio categories to go to existing links on the the site. I did find one solution on the forum to use redirects but the content I have has been SEO optimized including the titles and URLS. I really dig this template but this seems like a bit of a deal breaker just for the fact my content has been optimized. Below is the domain all of the main navigation is where I would like to point the services/portfolio pages. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

So why don’t you have a service with the same content you have here for example:

http://simulisplumbing.com/dev/heating-systems

Basically create your services “Air Conditioning”, “Heating” etc to be of the service post type, then you wouldn’t need any redirects?

Thanks for the quick response. I did have a Few questions going the recommended route above:

I’m not too sure I want duplicate content for Google indexing purposes. Is it possible for to be in just one either page or post?

Will it be possible for me to link my main navigation to the posts pages?

Is is possible for me to remove the /services_item/ in the url? My SEO guy was specific as to what each URL should be.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi again,

Sure you can add the Posts URLs to the main navigation. You can change the ‘service_item’ slug, yes, you can find topics in the forum on how to do so.
You could do ‘service’ for example so your URL to a post from the Service custom post type would be smth like /service/plumbing for example.
You shouldn’t worry about google, it will reindex your website with the new URLs in no time. Make sure you install an SEO manager plugin like YOAST to boost your optimization to the next level.
