Just imported demo file and selected “Main navigation” menu.
For some reason page opens up on Blog page which also seems to be the home page. The real home page (with banner etc) appeared to be in horizontal bar menu and when I click on it – it really looks like an internal page (with path and page name).

Please advise how to fix it.

You need to set your Home page to that specific page …
Please follow your documentation on how to do that, then you will have your custom page as your home page instead of the blog list.
