You can override the footer.php template in your child theme, then modify the new one anyway you please! :)

A footer is a reusable area that is mostly generic throughout a website and it has a separate template in all themes. Of course noone wants to create their footer for each separate page, blog item, category etc!
If you don’t want to use the generic one you have a Page option – “Disable Footer for this Page”!

Any way, I have purchased a copy of Templatera plugin which solved not only the current problem of mine but opened up a whole new world of non restrictive design and usage possibilities!!!
