<p>Not out of the box, as portfolio items are a custom post type that has it&#8217;s own url and content. You could override your portfolio carousel/grid element (in your child theme) if you want though and change the link to open the image in a lightbox if you must, by modifying the anchor tag. <img src="http://blueowlcreative.com/support_wp/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" class="wp-smiley" /> </p>
