I’m trying to create the protfolio page and make it look like the one in your demo. However, now it looks similar to my blog page. All the portfolio items are displayed like blog posts. I have created a page for the portfolio and chosen the portfolio template for that. For the individual portfolio items I’ve chosen different post templates with no luck. It still looks like a blog. So I’m confused how to make the portfolio filter page.

Maybe I should also mention that I’ve changed the name of the portfolio page so could that affect something? I also have only two portfolio categories at the moment.

I searched the forum for solution but couldn’t find any relevant answer for this.

Indeed, renaming your portfolio slugs means you may need to update a few template files as well … Please check this out, as well as read the whole thread!

thanks for the quick response! I tried to follow the instructions in that thread but I only managed to make the categories disappear. Not quite what I was after Previously I have changed the ‘portfolio’ slug in functions.php to ‘free materials’ and flushed the rewrite rules. I’d appreciate if you could help me with what to do next.

BTW, edited your home page a bit, wrapped the portfolio_carousel shortcode in a row_container so that it stays in place, remember to wrap everything in rows/columns, otherwise it will fall off the wrapper.

You are good to go, nothing really needed replacement!
Your issue was actually different. Your slug for the portfolio custom post type – “free-materials” coincided with the URL of your page so once that URL was loaded it loaded the posts from that post type rather than the page with that URL “free-materials” (default WP functionality). I simply renamed your page URL to “free-materials-list” so now it differentiates them correctly. Here you go:

I removed the content you had in there (a carousel) as the portfolio template does everything automatically!

All you need to do now is maybe add some more items and categorize them so the filter makes more sense!
