Hi again.

Retina displays are cool, but they cause problems with fortuna theme (Logo and Menu).

Pls find some screens here:
- non-retina.png: The way the logo appears on non-retina screens
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/r6s6my7zgc1bqne/non-retina.png)
- retina-13.png: This logo appears on a 13″ Macbook Pro Retina
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/uakoqbf2p57ou4f/retina-13.png)
- retina-27.png: The way it appears on a 27″ iMac Retina
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/5nznpe0ze03kkni/retina-27.png)
- retina-13-full.png: the whole screen on a retina 13″ MB Pro
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/42d1pyl50vrsy36/retina-13-full.png)
- retina-13-menu.png: The menu looks not that perfect on a 13″ MB Pro Retina
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/rc99ya8r71gidda/retina-13-menu.png)

How it should be:
- non-retina-13-full.png:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/e2pkv1t49wt8k3t/non-retina-13-full.png

- non-retina.27-full.png

https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7hjrtprjzybqca/non-retina-27-full.png

Fun fact: When resizing Chrome to 90% on the MB Pro Retina, everything looks great.

How to fix this issues? Thanks!

Hi there,

Yes, your logo is a bit wide and at times it wraps the menu to the second line.
What if you try to limit its width explicitly?

#logo .logo_img {
max-width: 200px !important;
}

Great. That helps with the logo size – but not with the menu. On 13″ Retina, the grid seems so be something between the regular view and tablet — the content container gets smaller than on a “regular” non-retina 13″ screen. Any idea on this?

Well sure, seems like the space is still too small for the small screen there, what’s the resolution you are running on it so we can create a custom media query to reduce the menu paddings a bit just for it?

MacBook Pro Retina 13″ is running browsers with 1280px width. Testing responsiveness in Chrome on a bigger screen, 1280 is exactly the breakpoint to switch to a smaller version. At 1281 px the layout flips to the mode it should be displayed on the retina.

Ok, try this out then – in your Child theme:

@media only screen and (min-width: 1018px) and (max-width: 1280px) {
#menu > ul > li > a {
    padding: 4px 13px 0px 13px;
    font-size: 13px;

Tried this, but had no effect.

Changed the stylesheet /themes/fortuna/stylesheets/grid_responsive.css in Line 1 to

@media only screen and (min-width: 1018px) and (max-width: 1270px)

This works fine on retina, but could nod test it on a “normal” 13″ screen or other devices. Any thoughts on this?

I wouldn’t mess with the Core styles…

Didn’t you say your Retina 13″ runs on 1280?
You added it here:

https://www.markenfrische.de/wp-content/themes/fortuna-child/style.css

I don’t see it?

I installed it on the dev version only.

Sure: The 13″ runs on 1280 but the problem was that the theme was displayed in a mode for a smaller client. That lead to wie margins left and right and caused the menu texts to overlap.
