I’ve added the buttons to the rev slider like how it was recommended in the theme documentation with:
<span>FIND OUT MORE</span>

But my hover is quite bad – it is either a dark colour with our theme colour as the text or the same text colour as the background colour.

I’ve had my developer look at it and he can’t seen where it is coming from therefore to be able to change it.

Can you please advise on how to change the button hover when added in this way?

When using a custom color there’a few things you need to consider when using the “btn_theme_color” class and the “btn_white” class specifically for rev slider.
Try adding this to your Theme Options->Custom CSS or your Child theme CSS file:

.rev_slider .btn_white:hover, .rev_slider .btn_theme_color:hover {
    color: #fff!important;
}
