working on a site for a buddy and love your theme
the sidebar feels a bit ‘thin’ to me
i read somewhere else on here that it was set to a third but feels again thin
i would like to widen it up a bit

anyway

found a bit of css online that i have been using but doesn’t seem to work

}
.sidebar {
width: 260px;
}

any help would be greatly appreciated

Fortuna implements a 1/4 sidebar, look here for example:

If you take a look at the elements in Dev tools you will see the sidebar has classes “col span_1_of_4″.
If you want to modify that you need to edit your sidebar.php and the rest of the theme templates that a sidebar is included in your Child theme.

What do you mean? It’s actually a pretty easy thing to do, simply replace a few classes, like I said: “span_1_of_4″ with “span_1_of_3″ in sidebar.php, then in the the “span_3_of_4″ with “span_2_of_3″ in your index.php, single.php, page.php, search.php and contact.php.

I would use the Child theme to override those as otherwise a theme update would wipe your changes.
