Hi,

I’m finding the site and dashboard to be quite slow in comparison to some other premium/resource-heavy themes I’m running on other sites. Problem site in question is: http://precisionadvisory.com.au/

It often takes at least 6-7 seconds of the spinning preloader, before the page actually initiates or does anything when jumping between pages on the site. Sometimes it can load quite quickly but for majority of the time, it takes at least 6-7 seconds before anything happens, sometimes as long as 8-9 seconds, which is pretty bad. So for the average visitor they’d probably be wondering if their internet is broken. This also seems to be affecting the websites bounce rate.

This was an issue that I brought up originally but never really had the time to get into it but it’s really starting to bug me and affecting customers client experience.

Do you have any idea what the problem is or what we can do to resolve?

Hi there,

Sure, check here:

http://blueowlcreative.com/docs/fortuna/#extra2

Once you do those optimization steps you will notice a minimum of 200% improvement in performance and load times.
Another thing would be to remove the Parallax & Video for VC plugin if you are not using it.

This is strictly for the theme front end, if your dashboard is also slow then this may simply mean that your hosting might be slowing things down…

Already using wp super cache and have the site running through cloudflare.

Tried the minifying plugin you recommended in the above link but it broke the site.

Also site is using parallax images so need to keep that enabled.

The default VC functionality of parallax bgr images is also pretty good and works faster, you may want to switch to it.
As for the plugin that unifies and minifies the JS and CSS files – you may want to make that work – it will pay back in time!

How do I get that plugin to work then? Why is it breaking the site?

Also I received the following response from the hosting:

I’ve been monitoring the server for last few minutes and the server is not using resources, CPU usage and load is normal in server also no one has reported slow issues.
I’ve gone ahead and run a gtmetrix scan on your site for you, please see here: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/precisionadvisory.com.au/Lj3GE0Up
There are definitely a number of issues there that can be addressed to improve your website speed, they all appear to be development-related though. I’d recommend forwarding that link to your web developer.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi again,

The plugin breaks nothing, removing it will simply speed things up a little as it has quite a few resources it loads itself.

As for the report, looking good, all you have to do left is unify those files I mentioned using a plugin, make sure everything is minified + optimize your images to the max.
Deferring the JS can also be achieved BWP Minify plugin so make sure you use it if performance is your concern!

I was referring to minifying plugin you recommended. Why does it break the site when I set up?

Are there any other similar minifying plugins you can recommend which I could try?

FYI I’ve just been comparing http://precisionadvisory.com.au/ to another site I run: http://www.ozzyparks.com.au/ (using The Fox theme, but same host/server). Catch is http://www.ozzyparks.com.au/ runs about 40-50% faster in terms of loading pages and accessing dashboard and The Fox is probably a more full-featured theme in comparison. Flicking between pages on http://www.ozzyparks.com.au/ is almost instantaneous whereas Fortuna theme takes a good 7-8 seconds to even think about it. So I don’t know why fortuna is so slow to initiate page loads – it doesn’t make any sense and it’s really quite frustrating tbh.
