Have another question. How to get subscript and superscript texts. I tried using the tag _abc and ^abc as I used to do in standard html. Did not meet with success.

Please advise what should be done to get subscript and superscripts.

One more clarification required.

How do I get a thumbnail of the featured image appear as part of the footer widget when I add recent posts widget as one of the footer widgets.

The sub and sup seem to be reset in the CSS base resetting at the start of your stylesheet.css file, you can easily remove them from the list and they will inherit their default browser styling!
