Sure, have in mind the 4.9 version reworks majorly Row and column spacings, that’s why we are still working on aligning the theme/VC versions in order for changes to be as small as possible.
Once you upgrade you may need to go over your pages and fix up some of the column/row spacings. For example before they put a 35px bottom margin to rows, now they add it to elements within the row, also a top padding to columns has been introduced.

You may also want to upgrade those once the new theme version is out, I suggest upgrading on a testing environment first if you still want to go for it. :)
