I have not customized much yet.
Visual Composer has it ticked to show on the portfolio pages, but it is not showing when editing an existing item or adding new.

I found the bug.

Yes, I checked the VC settings before contacting you. You can see them here:

I checked to include “post” types just now to see if it would have an effect, and the composer is now showing on the portfolio posts editor. So there must be a bug in the custom post type within VC.

The portfolio editor does not show the blue button for the back end editor (or the vs composer editor, only shortcodes displayed)

Through our conversations, I discovered that if I also check “post” in the VC editor settings, then it will be enabled in the portfolio editor pages. You can see this if you uncheck post in the VC settings and then view a portfolio edit page. (ie portfolio being checked has no effect)

So while I resolved the issue for me to move forward, there is a bug – VC editor is not recognizing the custom post type portfolio – it thinks its a post.

I can see the Backend Editor button in Portfolio editor just fine when I switch off the “Post” option from the Content types… What am I missing? :)
