Hi,
I’m still having problems with a situation, I opened a ticket a few weeks ago but cannot find it when I do a search. the problem is at bottom of this page just before the footer. http://www.mel.hummingbirdwebdesign.com/
the goal is to set a background image and use an overlay but the image is not showing up.
Latest version of js composer plugin has been uploaded.
I guess I need to re-open this ticket.
I will give you access in private email.
thanks,
Nancy

Here you go.

Try to use the first 2 tabs of the row settings since they are core to VC (the other two are from the Parallax and Video PLugin and are not that reliable). I used the second!

Hi,
2 things:
1. what about the overlay? if i use the first 2 tabs, I can’t use the overlay feature.
2. the way you had it, the carousel and text box were touching. I tried to add padding in one of the columns. Looks good on desktop but not on mobile. the padding did not create a space on mobile, instead it created padding around the contents within the column which pushed the column to the right. see attached.

thanks for your help!!

Simply add some top/bottom margin to the columns to create the spacing in mobile.
Yes, the overlay is only available via the Parallax plugin… just make sure you get the best of both worlds…

Hi,
I’m sorry but none of the options in the row settings are allowing me to apply an overlay. this section is very confusing because there are many ways of setting a background image. Heres what I’ve tried:
there are 4 tabs in the row setting.
1. If I use General Tab, set parallax to “simple” and insert image, the overlay color does not appear but image is displayed.
2. If I use the Design Option tab image is displayed but not the overlay (there is no parallax option) so I’m guessing I can’t use this option if I want overlay because only the overlay works with parallax.
3. If I use the Background tab, Background style = image/parallax and parallax = simple background, the image doesn’t appear.

please note, a few weeks ago, I was able to apply an overlay to a background image and now things aren’t working. I’m wondering if something broke after I upgraded to latest version of VC plugin.

Hi again Nancy,

I understand. And like I said the first 2 tabs are default for VC. I would stick to using either one, the first 2 tabs or the second 2 tabs (3rd and 4th), and preferably the ones default for VC (first 2).
In your case you had the Parallax setting from 1st tab set to SIMPLE and it conflicted with the Parallax plugin’s settings (3rd and 4th tabs).

Here’s what I did :

1. Disabled the Row width from 1st tab, and enabled the row width in the 3rd tab at the bottom – FULL WIDTH.
2. Disabled the Parallax from 1st tab.
3. Set the bgr image in the 3rd tab and disabled the one in the second.

All seems fine now!

I also took the liberty to set your margin for responsive + custom style the carousel dots to be white as they stand out better on a dark BGR!
