The reference to the image is wrong, as it’s currently relative to the child theme directory and the image is in the parent theme’s folder!

You copied the parent’s theme CSS file content over to the child theme’s content, this is not how child theme’s are supposed to work. You only add CSS to the child theme’s css file that you want to override from the parent theme’s file!

Hi Nancy,

The heading with backgrounds uses repeating images that go behind the text.
In order to hide the background behind the text we use the color (white by default).
In your case (yellow) you need to simply override this for this page like so:

.boc_heading.bgr_diagonal span, .boc_heading.bgr_dotted span, .boc_heading.bgr_multidotted span, .boc_heading.bgr_double span, .boc_heading.bgr_single span {
    background: #eeee22;
}

If you have different background colors where you want to use the background headings you can surely achieve the above with custom classes, yes.

Hi again,

Sure is there! It’s darker than the grey you have as bgr…
At the celebration link it doesn’t show as you have the text flowing full width, so the white background that flows behind the text covers the line! Hope it makes sense now.

Hi Nancy,

Sure, I checked all headings … all work as expected. Let me try to explain again.
1. This link http://delux.hummingbirdwebdesign.com/celebrations/ – as I explained you cannot have a background image as it’s covered by the background color of the text! You can’t have the line background when you have multiple lines of a single heading! Check with Dev tools to see why, the white color that hides the background line behind the text simply covers the whole line when you have multiple lines. Conclusion – You can’t have the backgrounds on headings that have multiple lines as they get hidden.

2. The blue bgr …. Check with DEV tools, you have this. The background is not a part of the theme, I am guessing a customization of some sort, get rid of the backgrounds:

.boc_heading.bgr_dotted span {
    background-color: #00408b;
    background-image: none;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 10px;
}

3. Casa hummingbird – the line is there even with the dark bgr!

Let me know if you need further assistance.
