I am trying to get the images to look the same size on the page, regardless of whether they are landscape or portrait (i.e. all the images must be equal height and equal width, although the height and the width don’t have to equal each other). The lightbox that opens can show the original dimensions – I only want the preview on the web page to show equal size images.

I have selected the option “Fixed Image Size” but it doesn’t work.

Currently the images are equal width, but not equal height.

How do I do this please? Thank you!!

The reason is simple, the original images of the few ones that don’t align well with the rest are too small in width and they end up not getting cropped to the default thumbnail size that is used for the rest. :)
For example, see this:

It’s only 445px in width, in needs to be at least 600! ;)
Simply upload larger image sizes!

Check the last tab of the carousel settings. You can try using 600×600 for example to make em square. :)

Nevermind, let’s try with some customization then!

Obviously the easiest way would be to upload some images that are previously sized and proportioned the way you want them to be. For example upload sizes like 800×800 or smth like that.
Another way would be to create a new thumbnail size of your own, then use that instead of Fortuna’s default fixed size thumb (600×380).
You can do that by adding the new thumb in your functions.php (preferably in the child theme):

add_image_size('my_thumb',600, 600, true);

Don’t forget to Regenerate your thumbs after this (use a plugin – Regenerate thumbs)!

Then set this thumb to be used in the image carousel shortcode fortuna\includes\shortcodes\vc\boc_img_carousel.php:

Replace the “boc_medium” with “my_thumb”. :)
