I have created a category france on portfolio category, how can I do that ?

Would france be your general portfolio custom post type slug?
You need a slug that will always go in front of all items from a custom post type.

Unfortunately this is not possible with WordPress, a custom post type should always have a slug in front of it. Obviously you can change that to say… “location” for example, instead of “portfolio_item” then name your items “france-paris” for instance, that way your URL would be something like: http://www.mywebsite.com/location/france-paris/

You can change your portfolio custom post type slug within your \wp-content\plugins\fortuna_portfolio_cpt\fortuna_portfolio_cpt.php

once you do, make sure you reset your rewrite rules by resetting the Settings->Permalinks!
