VC issues – accordion and tab elements

I created an accordion element containing 4 separate elements inside. After I save and return to the page a few days later, none of the content is affected, but the VC elements show the outermost container but none of the inside elements, preventing me from editing them further.

Previously, the exact same description happened when I created a tab element with 4 inside items.

This has happened to me twice now. The first time I passed it off as perhaps something wrong with the element itself. I updated VC and the theme to make sure I had the latest version. Now I’m sure I have the latest version and it’s done it again.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

What sorts of elements are you placing inside your accordion and tabs? Those 2 are sophisticated elements and allow only simple elements within them, if you placed something inside theme like a grid or a carousel there’s a good chance that your code got scrambled…

This page is still a work in progress. The most complex element is a form that I’ve used both plugins: Contact Form 7 (previously)
Ninja Forms (currently)

Aha, Ok then, the accordions actually look fine in the front end.
I assume somehow the shortcodes got scrambled and I really can’t tell why at this point.
What you can do is: switch to CLASSIC mode editor, then TEXT (instead of VISUAL). At this point you will be able to see all actual shortcodes in Raw that your page consists of.
Basically if all is fine you should have a nice arrangement of opened/closed shortcodes … in your case I assume something is either not properly closed or something else.
I would copy all of this and paste it in a new page so you can play around with it without losing the original content… I can also help if you let me have user/pass (use a private reply).

I’ll look at the shortcodes carefully again and will reply with a user/pass for you if I still cannot figure it out. Thank you again.

I found the issue. You had “SECTION” tags (the ones with the IDs) within your accordion section shortcode where the only allowed one there is an accordion item (boc_accordion).
If you want to still have those (I guess you added them for linking) make sure they are within the accordion shortcodes… for example:

[boc_accordion]

........ [/boc_accordion]

Check the TESTING page I created to test things around…
