Sure it is, you just don’t get an individual license, you are using the theme Extended license to use the plugin FREE along with the theme. Simply ignore that notice that pops up. :)

There was an issue with an old version of VC – 4.7 that the editor no longer worked with newer versions of WP. Once you update the theme and VC (as described in the link above) you should be all set.
As for the license, again – you don’t need to activate the plugin as you are using it bundled with the theme and the newer versions are provided along with theme updates. :)
