Portfolio Grid Hover Over & Permalink Customization

My Hover Over question:
I created a couple test portfolio items and set my featured image on each and created portfolio categories.
Then I added a Portfolio Grid to a new page. I see the portfolios and my filter tabs by category no problem.
What I can’t figure out is how to customize the content in the Hover Over of the portfolio item in the grid. I also added a Portfolio Carousel at the bottom of one of my Portfolio items. The carousel displays fine but again I can’t see how to control the content in the hover over.

My Permalink question:
When I create a new portfolio item, the permalink default is http://www.myurl.com/portfolio_item/titleofmyportfolio
Am I ok to modify the permalink by deleting “/portfolio_item/”?
