But even when I copy full content code from “Cool Portfolio Item” to a new portfolio item the image does not have full width. I was thinking that maybe post template would help me there but it says “This theme has no available custom post templates.”

So please how do I do that?

Sure, you have several template options to choose from. If you see the “This theme has no available custom post templates” message I am assuming you might be using a Child theme, check this out:
