videos and gifs in portfolio gallery

Is there a way to display videos or gifs in the portfolio gallery?

For example I want to display images and video in a gallery slider. I tried an animated gif, it didn’t work. Tried uploading video but the gallery slider only does images.

How can I achieve this?
